This Laboratory Information Management system (LIMS) has been developed to automate the sample workflow associated with genotyping for diversity or mapping population and parental screening. The core functionality includes sample tracking, capture of data generated through the genotyping workflow, job scheduling, querying the database and generation of reports. The LIMS also incorporates quality measures, data quality indicators are attached directly to the data itself, so that it serves as an audit at the lowest level of granularity. For user ease, there are several points of entry into the sample tracking process - however preferential use of sections of the workflow impacts on quality (completeness) of data within the database.
