LAST finds similar regions between sequences, and aligns them. It is designed for comparing large datasets to each other.

See versions of last that are available:

Load one version into your environment and run it:

$ lastdb

$ sudo mkdir -p /export/apps/last/1066

$ make install prefix=/export/apps/last/1066
$ cp -r COPYING.txt ChangeLog.txt examples /export/apps/last/1066
$ sudo chown -R root:root /export/apps/last/1066</code>
