Joining ISCB:


International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) is a professional body of Bioinformaticians and Computational Biologists and any person interested in bioinformatics (www.iscb.org)


It has a student body, ISCB Student Council (www.iscbsc.org), of which to be a member you have to be registered to the main ISCB. Please refer to their websites for more information.

Joining RSG-Eastern Africa:


ISCB Student Council has grass root bodies called Regional Student Groups (RSGs). There are currently 5 RSGs in Africa; Eastern Africa, Western Africa, Northern Africa, Southern Africa and Central Africa. 


RSG-Eastern Africa comprises of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Congo DR and Somalia. 


The leadership structure for RSG-Eastern Africa is;

1. Faculty advisor: Dr. Etienne de Villiers

2. Secretary: Blanche Kaira

3. Webmaster: George Githinji

Joining RSGs is free.


Benefits of joining RSGs include getting information on upcoming workshops, MSc and PhD opportunity in Bioinformatics postings and also could ask bioinformatics related questions as well.
