Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) lets you develop and deploy Java applications on desktops and servers, as well as in today's demanding embedded environments.
See which versions of java are available:
$ module avail java
Load java into your environment:
$ module load java/1.8
Notes from the sysadmin during installation:
$ cd /tmp $ wget -c --header "Cookie: oraclelicense=accept-securebackup-cookie" http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/8u152-b16/aa0333dd3019491ca4f6ddbe78cdb6d0/jdk-8u152-linux-x64.tar.gz $ $ tar xf jdk-8u152-linux-x64.tar.gz $ sudo rm -rf /export/apps/java/1.8/* $ sudo cp -r jdk1.8.0_152/* /export/apps/java/1.8
The download URL changes with each Java release so you need to Google for something like "wget latest Oracle JDK" to find someone who has figured the URL out.
